Should you put soap directly on skin when cleansing?

I have read somewhere not to put a bar of soap directly on skin when cleansing. Especially on face. Is this true? and why? does anyone know out there? thanks a lot!Should you put soap directly on skin when cleansing?
yes you can put

provided soap is not too strong

Soap is alkaline and it will remove the acid layer on the skin that protects it. It also picks up germs by being next to the sink without anything covering it or people use it to wash their hands. It's better to use a liquid mild facial wash in a bottle such as Clarins, Clinique or Liz earle or a stores/Boots own make.

You won't need the oily cleanser and toner unless you wear a lot of make up, as an oily cleanser is best for removing make up, then you would need to use a harsh toner with alcohol that will strip the skin to remove the cleanser, or your pores would become blocked.

Whatever you use on your skin, make sure it is washed off properly after.
Never heard of that however.....

I would strongly recommend against using a bar of soap and suggest using a packaged facial wash.

Think off all the dirt and dust you wipe of your bathroom surfaces.... Thats landing on your soap bar too... Soap thats left lying out is harboring all sorts of bacteria and the reason you perhaps read not to put the soap directly on your face may have been because if you have a spotty complexion and any of them are open you are also rubbin that bacteria on to the bar to fester.

hope that helps some what x
Neutrogena soap or Dove soap is best. I've used normal commercialized coap on my face using a face cloth all my life and my skin has never dried out - in fact I have a skin complexion no different to that of a 35 year old and I'm in my mid 40's. I never use toner either.

Just make sure you use a good face cream afterwards and if you're worried about lines, dab some pure Rosehip oil around the eye area.
No, no, no!

Please don't use soap on your face. The ingredients that go into soap to make it foam are very drying and do nothing good for your skin. Get a good cleanser, which doesn't mean expensive, and a cotton muslin cloth to take it off. Moisturise liberally and you will have better skin almost immediately.
it depends on whats in the soap. simple rule of old wives that has scientific basis, if you can't eat half the things on the ingredients list, DONT put it on your skin, esp the fae. The skins is our largest organs has thousands of microscopic breathers that absorb stuff. so that's why to be careful esp if you have sensitive skin.
I never heard that before, but if i was to guess as to why someone would say it - i think it would be because they feel that undiluted soap is too concentrated and will dry out your skin too much.
